Moyee Siu, L.Ac.
Ms. Siu was born and raised in Hong Kong where she obtained a Bachelor's of Science in Physics from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. After first teaching high school, she went on to work as a computer software engineer.
Growing up in Hong Kong, Moyee was exposed to many aspects of popular Chinese culture, including a widely-disseminated knowledge of Chinese herbs and the related contexts in which they are used. As she has recounted, her mother and grandmother would commonly use a variety of medicinal herbs in soups, deserts and the preparation of many dishes for family meals. During her high school and college years she also developed a keen interest in Chinese philosophy and cosmology.
Once, after graduation from college, she developed a chronic case of hives that did not respond well to conventional medical treatment. She vividly remembers resorting to a traditional herbal decoction and being amazed when her condition healed after one cup of the herbal tea. During this period Moyee also began learning Qigong and continued pursuing her interest in Chinese philosophy.
In 1985 Ms. Siu relocated to the Bay Area to continue her career. After a decade working in the computer industry she decided to change direction and become a medical professional in order to have a more meaningful, people-oriented occupation that would help relieve people's suffering. At this point her background in Hong Kong and her memory of the miraculous cure she had received years back prompted her to seek training as a licensed acupuncturist. Moreover, her residence in Santa Cruz, California offered her the unique opportunity to study with one of the true contemporary masters of Chinese Medicine, Prof. Ming Qing Zhu. The association that began then has since blossomed into a full-fledged partnership.
Ms. Siu is fluent in English and Chinese (both Cantonese and Mandarin), and organizes frequent seminars for scalp acupuncture throughout the United States, Latin America, Asia and Europe. She is currently the Vice-President of Zhu's Scalp Acupuncture Research and Education Foundation.
Ms. Siu's expertise is in treating Bell's Palsy, Stroke, Multiple Sclerosis, Migraines and others.
