Guillain-Barre Syndrome patient's thank you letter

Note: Bo Ping Wang, a 30 years old male farmer was paralyzed by a viral infection in 2005. The diagnosis was Guillain-Barre Syndrome. Coincidentally Professor Zhu and his students were visiting the Qing Dao University Medical College Hospital. They treated the patients, including Wang, with Zhu’s Scalp Acupuncture and physical exercises. Seven days later, Wang was able to walk with support and was discharged from the hospital. The following is Wang’s thank-you letter to James, one of the students who assisted Wang with 6-8 hours of daily rehabilitation exercise.

Dear James:

How are you! I feel sorry that I cannot communicate with you fluently because my Mandarin is not good. I also regret not learning English seriously when I was in high school, making it impossible to understand your conversations. But that is good, I might be able to better express my feelings by writing. I just want to chat with you and hopefully we can become good friends?

I did not want to tell you my family problems for I do not want to be viewed as weak. However suppressing my emotions made just feel terrible. So, I just want to pour out my heart to you and in doing so calm myself. First about my father: he suffered from high blood pressure. He had a stroke hemorrhagic during a village meeting and was rushed to the hospital. Despite the immediate treatment from the doctors, he did not survive. I was in great pain!

I would never have thought that a year later my mother was diagnosed with a late stage malignant breast cancer. I borrowed tens of thousands of dollars for her chemotherapy. The treatment went on and off and my mother lived for two more years. All the time I have been working so hard and this hard earned money went to pay for my parents’ medical bills- but it was far from enough. As a farmer, it is only possible to save a few thousand dollars (Chinese yen) at most in a year. I was exhausted! And yet, the most unexpected happened – I was afflicted with this strange disease.

I do not understand why my family has to suffer so much?! This is just unfair! I was already so exhausted. Why let me get this strange disease? I had no other options but to seek treatment. I simply could not ignore it as my whole family still depended on me! But I was heavily in debt already and there was clearly no money for me to get any treatment…

At last I had to borrow another eight thousands dollars. I spent three nights in the Rizhao City People's Hospital but there was not a sign of improvement. Later we heard about the affiliated hospital of Qingdao University and how well known their treatments were, so I was quickly transferred. After being treated for eight days, there were still no results. I was so anxious and panic and I could not afford any more delay financially. Later, the department head Dr. Pei told me that some foreign experts would be visiting the hospital for professional exchange and that I would be treated by them . I was so ecstatic! My illness could be cured soon!

On the third day of acupuncture treatment, my toes started to move and I could stretch my hands. I was really delighted – since your arrival, your team has helped me to do all sorts of therapeutic exercise to restore my body functions and I am making significant improvement every single day. I saw clearly that you folks treated all patients equally and devoted the same high degree of enthusiasm and responsibility. I was deeply moved. Especially you, dear James, who dedicated all your time to my recovery. My gratitude to you is far beyond words could express.

I just want to say simply but sincerely a ‘Thank you!”. Thank you to all of you - Professor Zhu Ming Qing, Dr. Pei and all of your professional team. Your commitment and responsibility towards your work will always inspire me. I must also work hard in the future: I will be diligent and responsible in dealing with whatever tasks are ahead of me. Although I am badly in debt, I am not in despair, I am not scared. Be it three years or five years, I will slowly pay off the debt, and I firmly believe this will happen. I was once forced to leave school early due to family burdens, but in the future I want to continue to learn and enrich myself.

Well, I will not say much more. Can we be good friends? If so, please write back to me. I will not say goodbye to you on Thursday as I will take off before you do. Let me borrow a poem from Li Bai (the great poet from the Tang dynasty) to express my feelings to you all, please note I have modified the ending a little bit:

The water in the peach flower pool is a thousand feet deep

But not as deep as the love from Bo Ping

How are you! 我的普通話講不好，和您言語交流有一定的困難, 我感到很遺憾。我也後悔上高中時沒有認真學好英語, 以至你們用英語談話也聽不懂。不過這樣也好, 我用筆也許能更好地表達我的心境, 我只是想和你談談心, 希望和您成為好朋友好嗎？

我本來不想說出我的家庭困難, 這樣會使人覺得我也太沒有男子氣概了, 沒有骨氣了, 但我不說, 憋得難受, 於是我就想向你傾訴一下, 我的心會平靜些。先是我的父親他有高血壓。一次他在開村民大會時, 一下子暈倒了, 這麽趕緊往醫院裡搶救。醫生診斷腦溢血, 搶救一段時間也最終沒救活過來, 我很痛苦! 可是我又沒想到一年之後我母親又得了惡性後期乳腺癌, 又手術又化療, 又花了好幾萬元錢, 這些錢基本上全是東湊西借的。就這樣斷斷續續治療着，我的母親活了兩年。我平時拼命打工掙錢還給父母治病借的錢, 可還是差得很多很多。在農村一年頭省吃儉用的最多能餘出三千多塊錢, 真是太累了。可是更令我意想不到的是我又突然患上這種怪病。

我不明白, 為什麼這麼多的苦難降臨到我的家庭?! 蒼天怎麼這樣不公平! 我己經很累很累了, 還讓我得這種怪病。可是已經這樣有病也不能不冶, 整個家庭的重擔還等我去挑呢! 可是己經負債累累, 實在沒有錢冶病, 真愁人啊! 最終還是硬着頭皮東湊西借的借了七八千元錢。到了我們日照市人民醫院治療, 住了三天沒見好轉。又聽說青島大學醫學院附屬醫院治病很厲害, 出名, 於是趕緊轉過來了。治療了七八天也沒見效果，我真是着急、恐慌。因為我在這裡拖不起多住一天一天的錢。後來裴主任說您們外國專家要來這醫院進行學術交流, 會給我看病。我一聽欣喜若狂, 我的病可以很快地治好了。

三號那天我的病有起色了, 我的脚趾頭會動了, 手也能舒展了。您們來了之後，對我進行針炙治療, 幫助我做各種有益我身體恢復的運動, 使我的病一天比一天明顯好轉，我真是高興極了。您們對每一個病人都一視同仁，都投入了高度的熱情和極度負責任的精神, 我都看在眼裡, 記在心裡。令我十分感動。Dear James, 尤其是您對我更是傾心傾力幫助我恢復，使我對您感激之情難於言表。

I survived a NASA-Ames Research Ceneter Helicopter Accident 9-11-81. I finally found Dr. Zhu in July 07. My hip was frozen - would not shift or rotate. My ankle collapsed frequently and my left toes were frozen so I could not move or use them. My right knee was so painful from a severe misalignment I could not use it. My left thumb was spactic- so no left hand. Now I am normal, beautiful movement and no fear. Thank God - I feel alive.

I am very pleased with the services I received from Dr. Zhu and Moyee Siu for my injured shoulder. They were very gentle and always reassured me that they have a "zero tolerance" for pain. Having two people assess and treat my shoulder was amazing. I never felt rushed or that time constraints hurried the doctor. He seemed to take care of me for as long as I needed it, compared to other doctors in the past that were constantly checking their watch or hurrying up the appointment to get to the next person.

All of the staff is friendly and professional. The office has a relaxing atmosphere and messages throughout the office on small posters promotes kindness and helping others!

The best part of my visits with Dr. Zhu was that I made incredible progress in healing. What took about a year of therapy five years ago with the same injury, took two visits with Dr. Zhu and Moyee. I am pleasantly amazed and will return for any other service that may arise in my future!

I have been a patient of Dr. Zhu and Dr. Moyee for about 4 years. I have seen miracles happen in their office. They have had patients who are wheelchair bound and after several sessions with Dr Zhu and his associates, the patients are able to stand on their own and in some cases have started to be able to walk again.

I have multiple sclerosis so I come here to get my nerves to work better. I prefer to not know the science behind acupuncture because I don't want to overanalyze the process. I just know that if I am ever having an exacerbation, all I have to do is come to their office and the symptoms will start to clear up. I think one of the more amazing fixes was the last time I had optic neuritis. They got the grey spot to clear up much faster than the first time I had O.N. I was amazed by how little disability I was left with. They got the optic nerve to clear up much better than I expected it to.

I routinely have background noise- goofy vision, fatigue, trouble walking, and trouble urinating. After a session, the background noise diminishes. I like to say that they keep me walking, seeing, and peeing. Dr. Zhu and Moyee are very knowledgable and kind. They intentionally make sure the pins do NOT cause pain. In fact, Dr. Zhu is the person who developed this particular scalp acupuncture technique so if you get treated by him, you are truly being helped by an expert.

I highly recommend them to anybody I meet who has neurolgical challenges. Whether your illness is MS, ALS, or a stroke you should consider coming to their clinic to see if they can use pins to train your body to use its nervous pathways in a more productive manner. Maybe I'll run into you here- I try to come at least 2x a month, more often when my schedule permits.

I am very impressed with the professionalism found in this clinic. I came with symptomatic high blood preassure: headachepreassure on my head and neck pain. I didnt want to have to ask the doctor to increase my medicine. I came for a treatment that helped me immediately. I was not asked to return. This doctors are honest nd their objective is to help the patients. My ninety year old mother comes for her depressions ache and pains and when she lacks energy. My mother has never left feeling dissappointed. We feel that accupunture helps her attain quality life. I am also grateful for the teaching that we receive..I have learned where to massage to lower the tension in my head.I highly recommend this clinic.

We came so far in search for Zhu’s Scalp Acupuncture, having spent three weeks and received the treatment, completely replaced the long term reliance on western medicine for seizures. My daughter has spinal cord injury by traffic accident. Zhu's excellent scalp acupuncture is very famous in Japan.So in Apr I took her to Zhu's Neuro Acupuncture Center from Japan in order to ask Prof.Ming Qing Zhu to treat her. A special feature of his treatment is scalp acupuncture with 6 hours' physical exercise .During around 10 days' treatment, he,such famous proffesor,himself assisted　exercise and continued to encourage her to try more.I was deeply expressed with his eagerness. And Dr. Moyee and other staff were also very eager to cooperate to treat her.　Of course,his scalp acupuncture is exellent. I'd like to express many thanks for his eager treatment. Because it already passed more than one year after her injury, at least one and half year's continuous exercise and treatment.is neccesary. After returning back to Japan,my daughter is continuously executing exercise of Zhu's way which was learned from him. I'd like to keep contact with Prof.Zhu for his valuable guidance.

My son had brain tumor resection surgeries twice for last 2 years. Since the brain surgery, my son lost the ability to walk, swallow, and speak. We started to come to Dr. Zhu about 2 weeks ago. We noticed huge improvement in Euji's balance after second visit. He's much stronger and eating better too. Euji enjoys coming here to get new hats(his needles). My son first got seizure every hour....

My son first got seizure every hour and each seizure lasted less than 30 seconds. He’s only 8 months old. After doing the acupuncture [after 2 treatments], he became better. Less seizure and his activities become normal like before. We will continue the treatment until he become better and the seizure gone totally.

I cannot tell you how much this has helped. I have suffered from sinusitis for too long and my doctor put me on steroids, antibiotics... nothing helped! Then he sent me to a ear nose and throat specialist. More drugs, still nothing. Then I remembered coming to Dr. Zhu and Dr. Moyee in 2001. So I returned. After one time I felt better. Second time, much much better.Third time - so so much better! No surgery for me now!

I was skeptical at first...

I was skeptical at first whether or not acupuncture could help colitis. My G.I. doctor said it would not but I decided it was a better coarse than steroids so I've been here everyday for five days. I am amazed at the change in just a few days. In the past, it has taken 4-6 months to recover from this with conventional therapy. Thanks to Dr. Zhu and Dr. Moyee for taking so much time with me.

Dr. Siu and Dr. Zhu both treated me. They gave me extra time because I could only come once due to financial considerations and being unable to drive due to my post-operative lack of functioning. After my treatment, the person who drove me to the appointment from out of town was so impressed by my improved mobility and posture that she spontaneously offered to bring me to another appointment! I came in with only being able to turn my head slightly and raise my arm a little without extreme nerve pain in my hands and arms. I had just had a discectomy, laminectomy with a titanium plate and removal of a bone spur. The treatment Dr. Siu and Dr. Zhu gave me increased my mobility immediately as they had me more during the treatment. For the first time since the surgery, my shoulders were able to relax. The doctors gave me exercises and medicine. I am very impressed with Dr. Siu and Dr. Zhu and I have been to numerous acupuncturists in the past.

Dr. Siu and Dr. Zhu are definitely the real thing. I had a laminectomy and discectomy with a fusion and removal of a bone spur and bone tissue in the nerve foramen at the C-5-6 vertebral area. There was increased pain for 6 weeks after the surgery, and it was getting worse all the time. After one visit with doctors Zhu and Siu, I had about 80% increased mobility and after 4 days with the needles in my scalp, my pain was greatly decreased. After the second visit, I felt better than I had felt before the surgery, during some of the time, with even more mobility and increased strength. I had periods of no pain and great vitality. Now, after the third visit, I feel that due to their work, I am really recovering. These doctors are extremely knowledgeable, attentive, skilled and compassionate. Dear Dr. Zhu and Dr. Moyee,

My name is Betty Jo Cox; I live in Las Vegas NV. I am 84 years old. Three years ago my bladder started leaking whenever I coughed, laughed, sneezed or any type of movement I would leak urine. The doctor I was referred to did a lift of my bladder. It did stop my leaking but within a week every time I tried to eat or drink anything my stomach would swell and I would get severe pain in my upper and lower abdomen.

I went back to the doctor who did the surgery. He assured me that nothing was wrong and sent me to a gastroenterologist, who performed several tests including endoscopy and colonoscopy twice over an 18-months period, plus many other types of tests: MRI, brain scan, and had me do physical therapy. All tests came back negative and showed nothing wrong. They did not know what was causing my symptoms and just kept giving me pain pills. They told me to try different diets and suggested I try another doctor who wanted to perform the same tests again.

My son Frank in Colorado has been going to one of Dr. Zhu's associates, who insisted that I travel to San Jose to see Dr. Zhu. When I first arrived in San Jose, my daughter and I checked into the hotel. I could not walk from the front desk to the hotel elevators. I had to stop twice because I was so weak.

Let me say that after 3 days of treatment I am feeling better today than I ever have in 3 years. I am able to eat, drink and walk without pain. I can now enjoy eating. We went to my favorite restaurant last night and I really enjoyed my food knowing that I was not going to be in pain, and there was very little swelling in my stomach.

I feel that if I had not come to see Dr. Zhu and his incredible associates that I would have died by summer. Now I feel like this summer I will be able to enjoy life as it should be enjoyed in retirement.

I and my family cannot thank Dr. Zhu and everyone in his office enough for what they have given me back with just the first 3 treatments.

Dear Dr. Zhu and Dr. Moyee:

You are the best but also the most modest and humble doctors that I have ever encountered or heard of in my life. Yet, you save and change so many people's life in such amazing ways. More people should applaud to you. Watching you heal people's life made my tears fall.

I first met Dr. Zhu and Moyee in 2002. A friend of mine suffered from ulcerative colitis and has been taking steroid on and off for over 16 years. I saw all the side effects of the drugs and it could just barely put his pain under control, not much improvement. I suggested him to try alternative medicine. I was new in the area. I asked, searched, checked, called everywhere from San Francisco to Santa Cruz, hoping to find a solution. Yes, my prayer was answered. After 3 treatments a week for 6 weeks at Dr. Zhu's clinic, he was able to stop using steroids and lives a normal healthy life. It was amazing.

During these visits to Dr. Zhu's clinic, I witnessed so many miracles happening. I saw Multiple Sclerosis patient crawled into the clinic with so much pain, then walked out pain free with happy tears on her face. I saw wheelchaired patient stood up on his own after the treatment. I found patients from Santa Rosa, Sacramento, Hawaii, Japan, Florida and all over the world came to the clinic. I asked them why do you come so far? Many of them generously shared their stories with me. So many stories touched my heart. I ended up staying and worked for the doctors for over a year.

The experience made me feel more blessed than ever that I have a healthy body and mind. After seeing so many of their patients with severe conditions, I never took my good health for granted, that I am able to hike up and down the Grand Canyon in one day, I am able to dance, work and play... Life is precious. I feel blessed for being alive and able to chase after my dreams. I feel blessed because if I myself or any of my family or friends have any minor or major health challenges in life, I know who we can go and ask for help.

Spinal Cord Injury

My son suffered a spinal cord injury on 7/29/2007. After 10 weeks of hospitalization, he returned home in a wheelchair. We began therapy at Zhu's Acupuncture early November 2007. Since that time, he has improved his strength and now walks with a walker. No more wheelchair. His spirits after acupuncture were always very good and upbeat.

The caring, compassion and dedication of Dr. Zhu and Dr. Siu was evident. Their optimism and confidence gave our son confidence. He will now return to college and live independently. Our family truly believes that this care made a dramatic improvement in his condition. Thank you.

Thank you for saving my back. I cannot praise your treatment enough and would like to share my story.

A few weeks ago, I woke up in the morning and my back pain was so intense. On a scale of 1 to 10, it was a 10. I just couldn't move. I couldn't get out of my bed and every little movement seemed to intensify my pain. My husband suggested that I go to the Emergency Room in the hospital but I really didn't think that would be the solution.

I finally got some help with a local doctor in Santa Cruz. Yes, it helped. My pain went down to about 8.5. I was able to walk with a cane afterwards. Each step still hurt badly but I was able to do more.

Two days later my pain went down to level 8+. I felt I was strong enough to take a ride on Highway 17 to see Dr. Moyee Siu. I limped into the clinic with my back bending over my walking cane. Dr. Siu treated me with head needles, body needles and cupping. After the treatment, I was able to walk straight without my cane. My pain went down to below 2. Yes, I did rejoice. It was a great treatment. Dr. Siu pays attention to details. My muscle spasms, low back pain, upper and lower legs all improved upon her treatment.

I highly recommend Dr. Moyee Siu to anyone who wants to reduce their pain and improve health in general.

I was diagnosed with a bulging disc and a pinched sciatic nerve. It caused extreme pain in my left leg, and made it difficult to stand, sit or walk longer than 5 minutes. I would need to lay flat on my back in order to relieve pain. I have endured this pain for the last 1 1/2 years. I tried chiropractic treatments, DRX2000 table (for decompression), physical therapy and various pain medications, with no relief.

I was considering back surgery, when I decided to give acupuncture a try. After 2 weeks of treatment, I started to feel relief. After a full treatment course, I am now able to stand, sit and walk without pain.

Acupuncture has helped me tremendously. Dr. Zhu and Dr. Moyee, thank you so much!

My experience with Dr. Zhu has been a miraculous one. Dr. Zhu is a "healer" as well as a beautiful human being. He and his staff relieved me of unbearable sciatic pain, and I was again able to walk, sit, and stand.

On July 19, 1999, six months after my wedding, I began experiencing the worst pain of my life. The left side of my body below my waist felt like a sharp electrical current radiating all of the way down to my foot. It was a sensation similar to the pain of a live nerve in a root canal of a tooth. I saw an orthopedic doctor, took anti-inflammatorys, muscle relaxants, and barbiturates. None of these reduced my pain. I had two epidurals. This is an incredibly painful and dangerous precedure, but I was desperate. The first epidural worked wonderfully for a total of two hours. I had to wait two weeks before a second epidural. And after the second procedure. I could not walk out of the office. When I applied weight on my leg, it would buckle under me. My left leg had no sensation for the next three days. I was terrified. I was unable to walk, sit, or stand for ten weeks. I had to sell my home and give up a very successful practice as a Marriage and Family Therapist in Rancho Mirage, California because my sciatic pain flares up when I sit too long.

On May 14, 2000 I had a surgical procedure that triggered off a severe sciatica episode and I was overwhelmed with pain. I could not sit, stand, or walk. Even when I was lying down, I was in severe pain and could not sleep. I went to an orthopedic surgeon who wanted to do surgery on my spinal disc. I opted not to do that and he put me on an anti-inflammatory. The pain never lessened in the days to come, so he put me on a more powerful anti-inflammatory. The pain continued to increase until I could not keep from crying. I begged the doctor's nurse to get me a prescription for an epidural. I was given a prescription, however, the anesthesiologist that my doctor recommended was on vacation for another two weeks.

Two massage therapists recommended Dr. Zhu to me. One of the women told me that she went back to work as a massage therapist one day after a painful sciatica episode because she had one acupuncture treatment from Dr. Zhu. The other woman was an acupuncture student of Dr. Zhu at Five Branches Institute in Santa Cruz, California. She told me how gentle Dr. Zhu was and she told me of his impeccable reputation and worldwide fame. I protested because I HATE NEEDLES. I had had some acupuncture in the desert for a rotator cuff which was helpful, and a Chinese doctor came to the house for a couple of treatments for my sciatic problem, but the relief was minimal.

The pain continued to increase and I had no choice. Although I vowed not to take any western painkillers, I took one Vicodan to help me deal with the painful twenty-minute car ride. When we arrived at Dr. Zhu's clinic, we were surprised to see that every chair in his acupuncture room and in the waiting room were filled. I crawled onto the floor and lay next to the secretary Eling's desk and trash basket. I was in tears.

My husband and I were taken into a private area and there was a massage type table for me to lie on. Dr. Zhu and his assistant comforted us immediately. I sensed truth and healing immediately. I felt hope for the first time. Dr. Zhu put four needles into my lower back and told me to get up and walk across the room. I thought he was kidding since I hadn't been able to walk for a week. I got off the table and walked across the room without pain. I couldn't believe it. It was a miracle. The only problem that I had was a dizzy, weak feeling, which I knew was the effect of the Vicodan. I was convinced never to take western painkillers again. In fact, it never relieved my sciatic pain at all.

Since I had waited over a week, my sciatic inflammation was quite progressed and Dr. Zhu said that it would take more treatments than it would have if I had started acupuncture immediately. With each needle, I screamed, squeezed my husband's fingers till they hurt, and sang "la la la la". I felt very badly for the other patients who had to listen to my loud sounds. Dr. Zhu and Moyee were loving, kind, and consoling. Dr. Zhu has a fantastic sense of humor and my husband and I found ourselves laughing and happy with every treatment.

The day following my initial session was a Saturday, and after a full day of acupuncture, Dr. Zhu and Moyee were kind enough to drive to our home because I was again in overwhelming pain. Dr. Zhu put over forty needles in my back. It wasn't a pleasant experience for them to listen to my screams. They were so patient with me. They couldn't have been more caring and kind. Dr. Zhu trimmed and bent the needles and taped them down. I kept the needles in my back until Tuesday when I went to my next treatment. I continued to have acupuncture treatments every Tuesday and Friday and the pain lessened with each treatment. I was pain free after nine sessions with Dr. Zhu and Moyee.

I have such faith in Dr. Zhu and his staff that I have taken many Chinese herbs and remedies, which have all been helpful. Dr. Zhu has taught me the correct way to manage my chronic sciatic pain and to keep pain at a minimum. He instructed me to sit, stand, walk, and lie down for fifteen-minutes intervals. I made my condition worse by lying down most of the time. I continued maintenance acupuncture and I graduated to Dr. Zhu's scalp acupuncture method. Thankfully, scalp needles were less painful for me and my sciatic pain would immediately diminish from one treatment. Dr. Zhu also helped my sinus and allergy problems as well as menopausal symptoms with his acupuncture technique.

There had times when I would pray to die when the pain was intolerable. Dr. Zhu was a savior in the darkest hours of my pain. Today, I thank God every day for the incredible change in my condition. I thank God for Dr. Zhu, Moyee and all of the wonderful people associated with Dr. Zhu's practice. My only sadness is that Dr. Zhu closed his Santa Cruz office and Highway 17 is the dreaded road between my home and his San Jose office.

People fly in from all over the world for treatments with Dr. Zhu, and he also travels worldwide to help patients. We are so lucky to have this gentle healer in California. I am very grateful that this man came into my life.

5 years of disabling foot pain

Dear Dr. Zhu:

I want to express my gratitude for your almost miraculous intervention ridding me of nearly unbearable long term pain. Thanks also goes to Moyee Siu and Jason Song, acupuncturists in your office, and, to my daughter, Cindy Rosenberg, who is now a licensed acupuncturist, for referring me to you after having briefly studied your method in her fourth year of school for Traditional Chinese Medicine at Yo San University.

To briefly recap, I underwent a long and complex surgery in late 2001 to fuse my left ankle in order to resolve the long term increasing chronic pain requiring large doses of morphine and other opioids to manage. The ankle was broken and reconstructed in 1979 but started to degenerate limiting my walking in the mid to late 80's and becoming extremely painful in the mid-90's. The fusion surgery was successful but required a long recovery. During recovery a completely new type of pain arose on the bottom of both feet and in my lower legs. The pain was so severe I was continued on the same pain medication I had the surgery to overcome. I was conclusively diagnosed by neurologists as having an idiopathic [no known cause] autoimmune disease, “CIDP”[chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy.] Physicians at USC and Cedars-Sinai medical centers among other things, prescribed a chemotherapy drug for over a year and a half without result and continued long term pain medication. While I had what appeared to be the best possible medical care, I did not think I would be able to return to work, so I resigned after a 2 1/2 year absence and was shopping for a wheelchair to avoid the pain caused by standing or walking. My daughter almost forced me to see Dr. Zhu after studying his method briefly.

I made the appointment to see Dr. Zhu in late 2004 and after the first day's treatment with Zhu's Scalp Acupuncture, I was actually able to walk without the extreme pain. While it took me a longer time for physical rehabilitaion and problems from discontinuation of the the many pharmaceutical products I had been taking, I am now walking 3 to 4 miles per day and am free of the debilitating pain medication; and most important I am pain free.

So, I feel I have my life back thanks to you.

My name is Lupita McClanahan. I am a Diné, Native American Indian. People refer to us as "Navajos" but we called ourselves Diné.

My most valuable friend, Chris Madson from Half Moon Bay, is my true dear friend who made this Scalp Acupuncture treatment happen. I wish her "beauty and happiness" as she lives her journey here on Mother Earth.

I live with my health problems for many years. I didn't share it with anyone, not even my family for a long time. Last year I shared the problems with Chris and since then I guess she has searched the world to find help for me. That is how she found Zhu's Scalp Acupuncture in San Jose.

The right side of my body has been numb and painful. It was hot and tingling all the time. One day around 1986 it started tingling on my right big toe first and gradually over the years went all the way up to my head. So, for many years I lived with that and some nights I couldn't sleep. I went to western medicine, MRI, EEG, etc... and they didn't see a problem. Finally, western doctors only gave me Nortriptylene and Amtriptylene medicine.

Now, I've been getting scalp acupuncture for two weeks at Dr. Zhu's clinic. Dr. Zhu and Dr. Moyee's treatments have been very helpful to me. I don't take the western medication anymore and my body is almost normal. There is no more heat in my right body - it is a little bit warm. There is very little tingling and no more pain. My right body has healed alot after my acupuncture. Both sides of my body almost feel the same again. They taught me to do some energy flow exercise too. They taught me how to inhale and exhale slowly, that really calms me down.

I'm very grateful for my friend, Chris Madison, for introducing me to Dr. Zhu and Dr. Moyee. I will always remember my special healing treatment.

Once Dr. Zhu helped me avoid carpal tunnel surgery. During a series of visits lately, Dr. Zhu and Moyee helped me unlock painful cramps in my leg that were so severe I was wakened by them every night. Now, with their help, the pain is fading. I've also had gastro-intestinal disorder and with herbal remedies that condition, too, has improved.

I couldn't recommend a better clinic with more skilled practioner. Dr. Zhu doesn't just help, he cures.

We have been bringing our son for Scalp Acupuncture treatments since September of 2006. He was diagnosed with Autism/Pervasive Developmental Disorder (PDD) at the age of four. He has low social awareness that is typical of those with autism, and also has difficulty focusing on learning tasks in school. He is fortunate enough to have an aide who helps him with his classroom work and goes to speech and socialization therapy. He also takes Ritalin to help him focus at school. With all these benefits, he has managed to keep up in school, and has proven that he can learn.

Nevertheless, since he has been receiving Scalp Acupuncture, he has made noticeable improvements in his concentration at school, has been showing higher levels of social awareness and self-expression, and has been working more independently when taking tests and doing homework. Emotionally speaking, he is handling adversity much better.

Scalp Acupuncture has helped my father who suffered a stroke, and it is proving to be beneficial for my autistic son.

A True Holistic Healing

Dear Moyee,

I am so grateful to you and Dr. Zhu for not only strengthening my body but for a truly holistic healing. When I arrived on Monday, the muscles in my left leg were so weak, my energy was low, my voice was weak, my spirit was low. When the treatment was complete, all had improved greatly.

I'll skip to Saturday my last treatment day. The muscles in my left leg were strong, my spirit was strong, my voice was strong , my entire being was strong. I was walking straight, lifting my legs, moving with confidence. And, ah yes, I could think. That was another issue I had. Lost a great deal of my ability to really think and articulate. That ability has been restored.

You and Dr. Zhu are true healers. You both are so present. It was such fun. I loved Dr. Zhu's humor. I hadn't laughed so much in quite some time. Zhu's Scalp Acupuncture is so unique. Please bear with me in trying to find adequate words to describe the positive affect your treatment had on me. I certainly am going to recommend you and Dr. Zhu to all whom I meet who have physical problems.

I remember, on Monday I had weakness all over, bent over my crutches, weak circulation, could not squat nor lift my leg, not even wiggle my toes. Thursday, I could squat all the way down to the floor. I stood for 6 minutes straight and tall. I could also lift my leg up to the railing. Circulation has improved. You also had me walking with the walker for quite sometime. Everyday there was improvement in all parts of my body. The improvement in all my bodily functions is so wonderful. Saturday my last day of treatment, I was a totally new person physically and emotionally. The acupuncture and physical exercises and your caring is what has healed me. To go from using the crutches to the walker was a great step. And when you told me that I could use a cane when I got home, wow. After eight years of physical disability , I am now on my way to not being disabled. I am so emotionally high from your healing- it's difficult for me to write about it. Scalp acupuncture, the exercises, you and Dr. Zhu healed me.

Chronic migraine

I suffered from migraine headaches for 25 years. I was treated with numerous combinations of medication, but still lost 2 to 4 days a month to the condition.

About 6 years ago, I was referred to Dr. Zhu's Scalp Acupuncture practice. It happened that I was on the onset stage of a migraine. Dr. Zhu treated me and the migraine symptoms disappeared immediately. Dr. Zhu instructed me to contact his office as soon as the early symptoms appeared. In a matter of a few short weeks, I was migraine free and have remained so for over 6 years.
